Kunzite is a pink to violet variety of the mineral spodumene, composed of lithium aluminum silicate. It was first discovered in 1902 by George Frederick Kunz, an American gemologist. Its color is due to trace amounts of manganese and exhibits pleochroism, meaning it changes color when viewed from different angles.
Primarily found in pegmatite deposits, kunzite is sourced from regions like Brazil, Afghanistan, Madagascar, Pakistan, and the USA. It is prized for its beauty in jewelry and its emotional healing properties. Kunzite is associated with love, compassion, and emotional balance, connecting the heart and mind while promoting inner peace and self-love. It is also linked to the heart and crown chakras.
